Our deputy assessors are out and about working all over St. Tammany Parish. They are assisting us in our continuing efforts to verify and update all property data parish-wide.
As defined in LA RS 47:1958, it is our responsibility to “identify, list and value” all property; therefore, accurate data is essential.
All STPAO field personnel are uniformed, wear identification and are in marked vehicles to make them easily identifiable.
Please know that when assessing land the assessor or duly accredited deputy assessors will visit each piece of taxable property in the parish. Should the assessor fail to do so and if the property escapes assessment, he shall be considered guilty of malfeasance in office. In other words, state law mandates we visit your property to verify we have accurate data. If you sell or you obtain a building permit, we will be out to verify condition and size, and to photograph. We appreciate your understanding when our team is out and about. We are doing our jobs.
