THE LEGAL PUBLIC INSPECTION OF THE 2024 REASSESSMENT TAX ROLL PERIOD IS THURSDAY, AUGUST 29, 2024, THROUGH FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2024 AT 4:30 P.M.
THE DEADLINE TO FILE AN APPLICATION FOR ASSESSMENT REVIEW HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL WED., SEPT. 18 AT 4:30 P.M
The legal deadline to file a 2024 Assessment Review with the St. Tammany Parish Assessor’s Office is the last day of the Public Inspection of the Tax Roll period, Friday, September 13, 2024.
2024 Assessment Review applications will be available starting in January 2024 and may be found here: www.stpao.org/forms/. To complete and submit your application quickly and efficiently, we strongly encourage the use of our electronic online forms. Forms may also be downloaded and printed from our website and may be filed with our staff at both of our office locations. 2024 Assessment Reviews will be worked on beginning in the summer of 2024 after the 2024 assessed values have been established.
If a timely 2024 Assessment Review is filed with the Assessor’s Office and you would like to submit an Appeal to the Board of Review, the deadline to do so is Monday, September 30, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. *By law, you must first file a timely Assessment Review application with the St. Tammany Parish Assessor’s Office before filing an Appeal with the Parish Board of Review.*
In the past, the prior year’s certified millage rates were used to estimate taxes due until all the current year’s millage rates were approved by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor using the already approved millage rates and the adjusted millage rates for taxing bodies not yet approved as of 8/15/24.
Any further increase in taxes will be a result of taxing bodies rolling their millage “up” or “forward”, NOT increased assessed values. Our annual deadline for taxing bodies to submit their millage rates is August 1.
Storm Review Applications may be filed anytime there is a hurricane, flood, tornado, etc., regardless of normal deadlines.
2023 parish millage rates, breakdowns, and comparisons can be viewed here. 2024 millage rates, both adjusted and adopted, will be available in the fall of 2024.
Any additions, deletions, or changes made to the 2023 Tax Roll as a result of an Assessment Review after the Tax Roll has been certified in October will be reflected by “change orders” approved by the LA Tax Commission. This process can take up to six or eight weeks. Change orders will not be visible online until the 2024 proposed Tax Roll is posted in August 2024.
Please do not wait until you receive your tax bill in November to attempt to file an Assessment Review. All property owners are strongly encouraged to check assessments, verify mailing and physical addresses, and any special assessments, exemptions, etc., every year in August.

Everything we do at the Assessor’s Office is done by LAW. Data used to assess property for the 2024 reassessment is from the LEGALLY DESIGNATED time period between July 2022 and June 2023. This is required by the LA Tax Commission.
There is a lot of misinformation being shared currently on social media that demonstrates a lack of knowledge and understanding of the taxing process and the Assessor’s role in it.
